On April 20th, 2024 the 3rd annual,

Walk for Epilepsy San Francisco will create epilepsy visibility by gathering in Embarcadero plaza and walking as community.

Epilepsy affects more people than MS, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, and Parkinson’s Disease COMBINED, but receives the LEAST amount of funding--and claims more lives than breast cancer each year. Historical stigma and discrimination of people living with epilepsy have led to a lack of funding and awareness. The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California connects more than 180K people living with epilepsy with life-changing support network, programs and resources.


Let’s walk for epilepsy. Join our campaign, start or join a team, and together we can take steps towards change!

We look forward to seeing you at the 3rd Annual Walk for Epilepsy San Francisco on Saturday April 20th at the Embarcadero Plaza. Here's information to help you prepare for the big day.


9:00 AM: Check-in/Registration Opens

10:30 AM: Speeches Begin

11:00 AM: 3-Mile Walk Begins

1:00 PM: Event Ends


Embarcadero Plaza, San Francisco, CA 94105

Embarcadero Plaza is located in the Financial District of San Francisco. It is directly across from the Ferry Building, and has direct access to BART, MUNI stations and FERRY.


We encourage to use public transportation but if you drive to the event there are multiple options near Embarcadero Plaza, below is the closest to the event

Saturday 7:00 am – 9:00 pm


Remember that the course is non-competitive and you can turn around any time.

Please always stay within the designated path.

See the walk map above, we will be crossing the busy Embarcadero Street so please cross with caution and use only designated crosswalks.


Registration table opens at 9:00 am through the end of the event. You get a free shirt if you have epilepsy and teams and fundraisers get one per $50 raised. You can pick up shirts at the registration table. There will be extra shirts to purchase at the event.


  • Any remaining cash or check donations to drop off at the Registration Table.

  • Credit card and phone apps (Venmo, PayPal, Apple Pay) for any purchases -- we'll be cashless.

  • Dress for the weather by checking the forecast before you arrive. The Walk is happening RAIN or SHINE!

  • Team spirit signs with inspirational messages of encouragement and support. We will also have a team sign decorating stations placed throughout the event space.

  • We will have a memorial wall for those we have lost to Epilepsy, bring a photograph, sign, message to honor them at the Epilepsy Angels Wall.

  • The city of San Francisco does not allow plastic water bottles. Please bring your own water bottles!


We will be selling EFNC paraphernalia - hoodies, t-shirts, stylish hats and more. Help us raise awareness for epilepsy by wearing our colors.


Check out our team sign decoration station to create and decorate a sign using supplies there and remember to bring photos of you and your loved one to personalize your sign. Carry that sign with you on the walk course and let it convey your reason for walking.

There is no shortage of activities and fun at the Walk including:

  • Walk-through giant inflatable brain, team sign decoration station, face painting, wishing wall and memorial wall, arts and crafts, and games.

  • If you would like to have us honor a loved one who has passed, please send a photo along with a short bio to by April 6th or bring a printed photo or sign to the event.

  • We will have representation of Health Providers in our Region, stop by and say hi to some of the best specialist in the world as well as representation of Epilepsy Spectrum Industries.


We will have a food truck for those who would like a morning bite or to stay and enjoy lunch afterward.
